| Biography | |
| Mark Coyne loved sailing, flying, and Jimmy Buffett. But most of all, Mark loved teaching EMS. A couple of weeks before the accident, Mark was talking to a colleague and said, "You know, I really make a difference with what I do. Teaching really means something. I've affected a lot of people."

Mark was one of three crew members killed in a University of Wisconsin Hospital Med Flight helicopter accident on May 10, 2008.

In 1981, Mark joined the nursing staff at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. Five years later, he was recruited to the UW Med Flight program where he worked as a part-time flight nurse for the last 22 years. In addition, Mark was a full-time Emergency Medical Services instructor at the Madison Area Technical College since 1986.

Education is like a candle, it loses nothing by lighting another candle and, oh, how many you have lit.

Honored 2009 |
