| "We have lost three brave people, true heroes, who dedicated themselves to saving the lives of others," stated Sacred Heart Health System President and CEO Patrick Madden.<br /> <br /> Tom Palcic, 63, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, was killed in the line of duty on October 20, 2004. The helicopter was headed for DeFuniak Springs to fly a critically ill heart patient to Pensacola Hospital. The helicopter had turned around because of thunderstorms, crashing into the Choctawhatchee Bay.<br /> <br /> Palcic worked for Metro Aviation Inc. of Shreveport, Louisiana, which flies for Sacred Heart. Palcic had flown helicopters for 27 years.<br /> <br /> Honored 2008 |
