Biography
Tim Martin and a driver were taking a patient to the hospital on a non-emergency transfer when their vehicle overturned during a rainstorm. The ambulance hydroplaned, skidded and flipped into a muddy field. Tim was in the back of the vehicle tending to the-74-year-old patient who died later that evening from her injuries. The driver was treated and released. Tim Martin was 38 years old when he died the next morning on June 9, 1997.

Tim, who lived with his mother, had a street map taped on the ceiling above his bed so he could learn the city's layout. Chaplain Emeritus Dick Ross said, "When he went to bed at night he would lay there memorizing the streets of Clovis." Tim probably held the Clovis Fire Department record for asking questions as a rookie."Not only did he ask questions, he demanded answers." He was dependable and conscientious.

After serving in the U.S. Navy, Tim worked in construction and volunteered as a firefighter. In 1994 he began working as a firefighter and emergency medical technician in the Clovis Fire Department.

Tim is survived by his mother, Neicha Chaney.

Honored 1998
