Biography
"She never spoke a bad word about anyone."<br /> <br /> On February 18, 1999, Mrs. Barton was helping stabilize a victim of an accident when she collapsed at the scene, suffering a fatal heart attack. Being part of an ambulance crew that responded to the crash she received immediate help from her co-workers. However, all efforts of resuscitation were unsuccessful. She was a member of Clarke County Ambulance Service.<br /> <br /> Sue Barton, of Grand River, Iowa, was an emergency medical technician at Clarke County Hospital for 12 years and was one of the founders of the Grand River First Responders. She had previously worked as a nurse's aide and EMT at Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa.<br /> <br /> EMT Barton was a devoted mother and wife with many interests. She enjoyed football, basketball, digging for arrowheads, and Native American history. Sue liked camping and working the Sunday morning crossword puzzles. She bowled for 25 years in the Leon Hits & Misses League. Mrs. Barton fed, cared for, and kept records on the 67-bird species on the family farm. Sue loved Christmas and making special goodies for her family. Everyone loved coming to the Barton household.<br /> <br /> Sue Barton, 56, is survived by her husband, Bob Barton, a son, Ryan, two daughters, Regina Sue and Rena Barton, and ten grandchildren.<br /> <br /> Honored 2000
