Biography
Although a new resident in the Whitefield community, Richard Connolly did not hesitate to offer his help to area residents.

On August 22, 1978, Ross Ambulance Service of Littleton responded to a request for transport to a local hospital. The local first-responder crew arrived on the scene to provide patient care until the ambulance arrived. Moments later, the patient experienced cardiac arrest and a radio call went out to request more assistance. Richard, an emergency medical technician with the Whitefield Life Squad, immediately left his office to respond. He volunteered to continue cardiopulmonary resuscitation and ride along on the transport. Unfortunately, while negotiating a curve, the driver lost control of the ambulance. The vehicle slid sideways and rolled over several times. Richard died at the scene, along with attendant Pamela Kirby-Mitchell.

At the time of his death, Richard was 42 years old. He left behind his wife, Leonie; daughter, Maureen; and sons, Phillip and Michael.

Honored 1994
