Biography
To honor the memory of Marjory Brooks, Governor Jim Douglas ordered flags to fly at half-mast for three days. "There are difficult jobs in every choice of work, but workers accept the responsibility to be on the front line of dangerous situations everyday," said Governor Douglas, "They are our hometown protectors and care givers in times of need." "This is a great loss to the EMS family," said Dan Manz, chief of Emergency Medical Services for the Vermont Department of Health, "Marge and her family are really part of the history of emergency medical services in Barton, the Northeast Kingdom, and Vermont as a whole."<br /> <br /> Marjory C Brooks, 73, of Glover, Vermont died as a result of a motor vehicle accident on August 25, 2003. The non-transporting vehicle was responding to the scene of an accident when the crash occurred.<br /> <br /> Mrs. Brooks was employed as an EMT-1 with the Barton Ambulance Squad. She had previously worked with the Glover Ambulance Squad and joined Barton in 1988. Marjory was Captain of the Barton Squad. She held leadership, training, and education roles in the communities of Barton, Glover, Orleans and Westmore. She was always available to assist in any capacity that she was asked to in the field of EMS. She was recognized as the State of Vermont Advanced Rescuer of the Year in 1993. Mrs. Brooks had been active in EMS for over 28 years and planned to retire in September.<br /> <br /> Honored 2004
