Biography
"Karen was at the top of her game; she was just absolutely doing what she was meant to do with her life", stated her husband. " She was the most kind and caring person, and she was a great caregiver, " he stated. Karen was selfless in her devotion to her family, particularly her husband, Lee, and daughter, Brooke. She truly was a daily and enduring example of what it means to be an outstanding wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. Her team members, who said "she is one person in rescue who will be missed", echoed this statement.<br /> <br /> Karen A. Woods, 43, of Elizabeth, Colorado, died in an ambulance crash on May 9, 2006. The accident occurred during the transport of a critical care patient en route from North Platte, Nebraska to the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver.<br /> <br /> Mrs. Woods was an active critical care registered nurse at University of Colorado grand transport of Colorado and surrounding states. She also participated in 911 calls in the Denver/Aurora Colorado area. She was also a full time emergency registered nurse at the University of Colorado Hospital. Karen was a great nurse and she brought such comfort to her field. She was a nominee for the Nightingale Award in 2006, a statewide nursing award in recognition of nursing excellence.<br /> <br /> Karen was highly skilled in her field, and was considered one of "the best" caregivers in all of Colorado. Those who worked around her knew they were working with a truly dedicated professional, one who gave her all. She was one of those people who were just as committed to her family as she was to her job, which made her a real jewel in her personal life, her job, and her work in rescue.<br /> <br /> Honored 2007
