Biography
"She was a very dedicated nurse, not just with us, but with any organization that she worked with," said Mark Hipley, President of Flight Source LLC. "She brought professionalism, sunshine and happiness to everyone that she was around." That sunshine continues to sparkle in a memorial tree that was erected in her honor. "People could make comments on ornaments and place on the tree," said a friend. The tree was full, as full as the life Diane led.<br /> <br /> Diane Efaw, 47 of Morgantown, West Virginia was killed in the line of duty on December 26, 2006. She was the flight nurse aboard a plane en route to New Jersey conducting a patient transport. The plane crashed on a runway in Pennsylvania as the pilot tried to disengage ice that was building up on the wings. Both the pilot and nurse Efaw lost their lives.<br /> <br /> She was a flight nurse employed by FlightSource LLC, located in Morgantown, West Virginia. She had previously worked for Ruby Memorial hospital and was a volunteer firefighter with the Clinton District Volunteer Fire Department in Morgantown.<br /> <br /> She was a compassionate woman devoted to her patients. She had the "heart of an adventurer." "She was independent, self-reliant and determined," said her brother. She profoundly cared about people around her and could always be counted on to help. She was active in volunteering in the community, and worked on many projects.<br /> <br /> Honored 2008
