Biography
Brian was a committed flight nurse who loved what he did.<br /> <br /> He was an awesome and aspiring guy to be around, with a quirky sense of humor that always made you laugh. He had touched fate once before when his motorcycle crashed, but I can hear him now "hey, I was doing what I loved right up to the very end", said Terri Smith, co-worker from Denver City EMs. "Brian liked helping and caring for people in need, "stated Greg Beaty, base coordinator for Medevac.<br /> <br /> Brian Miller, 44, of Roswell, New Mexico, was killed in the line of duty on August 5, 2007. He was one of a three-person team aboard a medical plane that departed from Sierra Blanca Regional Airport conducting a patient transport. The air ambulance crashed in the rugged mountainous terrain in Devil's Canyon, located in Lincoln National Forest. There were no survivors.<br /> <br /> Miller, who joined Southwest Medevac in 2006, had been a nurse since 1997. He became a firefighter in 1989, and worked for the Carlsbad, New Mexico Fire Department. In 1994 he became a paramedic, and then worked to the status of RN.<br /> <br /> "Brian was an amazing person. He overcame disability from two motorcycle accidents and still kept riding. He loved both riding motorcycles and being a fight nurse. I know he will continue to do both in the beautiful blue heavens," stated Kristi Stuard, ER nurse in Roswell.<br /> <br /> Honored 2008
