Biography
Ron always put others first; he was a very caring person who took his job as a paramedic very seriously. He was a religious man who marked favorite Bible passages, including several that referenced eagles. Eagles are known for flying into storms, and each medical flight team tried "to beat the storm, save and live." Ron was such an upbeat person, always looking on the positive side. Ben Yedor, an Air Angels co-worker said "he was one of the best medics I ever saw."

Ronald Battiato, 41, was killed in the line of duty on October 15, 2008. He was one of a three-person medical team involved in a patient transfer, when the helicopter crashed in a field in Aurora after hitting a wire, taking the lives of all aboard.

Ron was a flight medic for Air Angels, Inc. of Bolingbrook, Illinois. He was also an employee of South Chicago Heights as a paramedic/firefighter. He had a large family, including a loving wife and six children, and loved spending time with them. In his limited spare time he loved motorcycles and was a member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club.

Honored 2009
