Biography
Kline loved his work as a paramedic and caring for others in their most vulnerable and desperate moments of life. In a conversation between Kline and me, he reminded me that he had the greatest job in the world, helping people," said friend Tim Shumbat. He was one of the best.<br /> <br /> Kline DeWire, 44, of Hughesville, Pennsylvania, died in the line of duty on December 17, 2007. He suddenly became ill during a shift change and was taken to Williamsport Hospital where it was discovered he had a thoracic aneurism. He was immediately taken to surgery but did not survive the operation.<br /> <br /> Mr. DeWire was employed by Susquehanna Regional EMS as a Paramedic Platoon Chief. He was a Medical Emergency Services Rescue Instructor for the Pennsylvania Department of Health and a member of the Hughesville Fire Department for 28 years. He was also a member of the Montoursville Willing Hand Hose Company, Montgomery Volunteer Fire Company. Old Lycoming Township Volunteer Fire Company, and Loyalsock Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. Kline was the founder of Technical Rescue Task Force 80 and the Lycoming County Rescue Task Force.<br /> <br /> Many accolades can be written about Kline DeWire. He was all about what rescue service means. He was a valuable contributor to the development and improvement of the rescue and fire services in the Lycoming County region and state. Kline's contribution to his fellow man was his life's passion.<br /> <br /> Honored 2009
