Biography
"William was the sunshine in the room; everything just seemed a little brighter when he walked through the door. He was a gifted individual, one who did not have to be shown a second time how to do something," stated a friend. He was young and searching for the perfect job so he could have all the things in life he needed to make him happy. He loved his job of helping others and was a true hero.<br /> <br /> Bill Mann, 31, was killed in the line of duty on October 15, 2008. The medical team and patient had left the Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich, Illinois, en route to Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. The helicopter went down in Aurora, taking the lives of all aboard.<br /> <br /> Mann worked as a flight nurse for Air Angels, Inc. for a total of twelve months. Previously he had worked as a police officer in Huntley and as a paramedic and fireman in Norwood Park. He was a nurse for seven years in Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles. He was known as a "most dedicated individual," saving many lives.<br /> <br /> Bill was very close to his family; he was an only son and brother and the glue that held them together. He was cherished and will forever be remembered.<br /> <br /> Honored 2009
