Biography
"Sandi was the kindest soul anyone could ever meet; and would do anything for anybody. She loved her kids, her mom and dad and her job," said Samantha McCarthy, a fellow flight nurse. She often followed up with the patient's family following a flight. "She was a social butterfly and one of the best nurses we ever had," stated director Tim Lowe.

Sandra Pearson, 38, was killed in the line of duty on August 31, 2008. The crew was heading back to base when the helicopter almost immediately crashed in a cornfield located outside Burney, Indiana. The medical team had participated in a community day sponsored by the Burney Volunteer Fire Department.

Sandi began her career at the Springfield, Illinois base as nurse supervisor for Air Evac in July, 2002. She worked at the Washington, Brazil and Paoli, Indiana bases before settling in Rushville.

Nurse Pearson was an excellent flight nurse; she was always pleasant and had a smile on her face. She stayed in a good mood and always had good things to say about people. Sandi loved her children and family and spoke of them in very endearing terms.

Honored 2009
