Biography
Captain Gary L. Studer has answered his last alarm. He will be missed, his work will be missed, his intelligence will be missed and he will never be forgotten. Paramedics and firemen are always ready to help when you are ill or injured.<br /> <br /> Gary L. Studer, 61, died in the line of duty on June 28, 2008. He was pulling duty and when he failed to answer a call, his partner found him unconscious in his bunk. Gary was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital where he later died.<br /> <br /> At the time of his death, Gary had been with Whitehouse Fire Department for 30 years as a paramedic and firefighter with Life Squad 9. He obtained the rank of Captain, Chairman of Lucas County?s local Emergency Planning Committee, a member of the Ohio Society of Fire Service Instructors, the Ohio Fire Chiefs' Association and a lifetime FFA alumni. Gary taught basic and advanced firefighting and first aid. He was a scuba diver and instructor, a state fire instructor and state fire inspector. "He was there every day; he absolutely loved his profession," stated Chief Daryl McNutt.<br /> <br /> Gary's wife, Jeanette, said he did have other interests, such as restoring tractors and working on antique automobiles.
