Biography
"My son wanted to be involved with helicopters since he as a little kid," said Roger's father, Zach Warren. "He learned to maintain and repair helicopters and obtained a license to fly planes. It was while flying a helicopter that Warren lost his life. If he had to die, thank goodness he died doing what he truly loved to do."

Pilot Roger Warren, 43, died in the line of duty on August 31, 2008. The three-person team was leaving a fundraiser when a malfunction of the medical helicopter caused it to crash near Burney, Indiana. All three aboard lost their lives.

Roger joined Air Evac in June 2006. He was an excellent pilot and very popular with the other crew members. The Otsego, Michigan native first started with Air Evac at the Effingham, Illinois base, but then became the base Pilot Supervisor for the Rushville base. An Army friend of Rogers said that everybody loved him. He was intelligent, very safety conscious and a very good mechanic.

Trail riding in his Jeep, hunting and scuba diving were some of Roger's hobbies, but his real passion was flying and canoeing.

Honored 2009
