Biography
Paul Boyer, 54, a first responder from the Fort Bragg military base, was killed in the line of duty on October 22, 2009. He was en route to the base's Hoke County parachute drop zone when the ambulance he was riding crashed. Boyer was riding in the front seat of the Womack Medical Ambulance when the driver lost control and over-corrected hitting nearby trees.<br /> <br /> Mr. Boyer was a paramedic with the Womack Army Medical Center Ambulance Services for 11 months. While attending paramedic school, he was a driver for the pediatric critical care ambulance team. He had been involved with Emergency Medical Services since 1976, serving with the Durham County EMS and as a flight nurse with UNC Aircare Agency. He was also a firefighter and a policeman for West York Borough in York, Pennsylvania.<br /> <br /> Honored 2010
