Biography
"Her devotion spoke for itself, she was dedicated," said Chief J. L Giddeons of Union Rescue Squad. Bonnie would work 36 hours a week, then volunteer a 12 hour shift. She ran the squad's junior EMS programs, teaching rescue skills to high school students. Bonnie volunteered at the Fire Department where her husband was Chief. Her daughter volunteered there too; it was a real family affair. They were a family that performed in their community giving help on a day to day basis. Bonnie was just one of the best, the Union Rescue Squad could depend on her even when she was off, which was the case the day she died.

Bonnie McNeil, 50, of Pender County, North Carolina, died in the line of duty on May 14, 2009.
