Biography
Tracy Chambers' colleagues remember how easily she could adapt to even the most difficult situation and find a way to effect the most positive outcome possible. Known as a beautiful person in private and a "medic's medic" in the field, she was born in Tachikawa Air Base, Japan and received her EMS training in Austin, Texas. Tracy worked for Williamson County EMS for eighteen years and helped to create that department's honor guard before moving to Alpine with her husband and children. She was able to continue her dream and started a job with Air Ambulance Stat. She brought with her credibility and respect. She understood customer service and was a great healthcare practitioner who never lost her passion for those in her care.

Chambers, 42, was killed in the early morning hours of July 4, 2010 when the twin engine Cessna 421 she and fellow crewmembers, Ted Caffarel and Sharon Falkner, were operating in crashed shortly after taking off enroute to Midland International Airport. The plane crash-landed after leaving the runway and went over a ridge, caught fire and exploded. All on board, including the patient and her husband, were killed.

Her colleagues and family have established the Tracy R. Chambers Scholarship Fund in her memory for paramedics in training.

Honored 2011
