Biography
His friends and co-workers lovingly called him "Mooch," a nickname given to him by his fellow Sullivan firefighters and paramedics. His name had to do with the fact that no leftover food in the firehouse made it past him. But Chad wasn't only known for his nickname; it was said that he had a passion for helping people, and he showed that passion in the work he did every day.

Chad graduated from Hamilton Heights High School in 1997, the same year he started volunteering for the City of Sullivan Fire Department. He continued his education in law enforcement at Vincennes University and started his career in the emergency field as a police officer, eventually becoming a career firefighter/paramedic with Sullivan. Chad was the kind of firefighter that could put a fire out by himself and on a medical emergency; he was the guy you wanted there. Chad loved his family; his wife, Casey, and his children, Grace and Gabe, were his life and his reason for existing.

Firefighter/paramedic Null had just returned to quarters on December 16, 2010, after responding to two medical emergency calls. Shortly after returning, his co-workers found him unresponsive on the floor. Resuscitation efforts were started immediately, and he was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of an apparent heart attack.

Honored 2011
