Biography
Her presence would light up a room. She had a great smile and a wonderful personality. Laura was a friend who would not leave your side. She had your back no matter what happened. She was a doting mother who loved her "Belle" more than anything.

A paramedic in Morgan and Lawrence County for six years and active in the Morgan County Rescue Squad, she was on the squad's dive team as well. She was a 1999 graduate of Lowndes Academy and received her paramedic degree from the University of South Alabama.

At work she was "gung-ho and ready to go," and she could be counted on to do anything asked of her. The qualities that helped her excel at rescue work spilled over into her personal life. As a paramedic she always put her patient first, and she was the same caring person outside of work as she was in the back of the ambulance.

On the cold morning of December 15, 2010, Laura was operating on the scene of one of many weather-related automobile accidents that day. Laura was providing patient care on the side of the road when a motorist disregarded the accident and tried to go around slower traffic. The speeding truck struck Laura as she was working to help the victims of the accident. She was transported to Baptist Medical Center South where she later died of her injuries.

Honored 2011
